Penne Amatriciana

This dish is an Italian dish made from pasta and a tomato/bacon sauce to go with it. It is also good to serve it with some cheese for extra taste. I learnt to cook this during lockdown (thermomix recipe)

Ingredients

  • 600g of penne

  • 800g of tinned tomatoes

  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped

  • 3 garlic cloves, peeled

  • 5 diced pieces of bacon

  • 10g oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place tomatoes in bowl

  2. Blitz on speed 8 for 10 seconds. Place into a bowl and set aside

  3. Place onion and garlic into bowl

  4. Blitz on speed 7 for 5 seconds. Scrape down

  5. Add oil and bacon

  6. Cook for 5 minutes, speed 2 at 100 degrees

  7. Add remaining ingredients

  8. Cook for 15 minutes, speed 2 at 100 degrees

  9. Stir sauce through cooked and drained pasta

  10. Serve

(Blitz means blend in the thermomix)

Step 1 and 2

Place the tomatoes in a bowl, blitz and se them aside in a separate bowl.

Step 3 and 4

Put the onions and garlic in a bowl and blitz the mixture.

Step 5, 6, 7 and 8

Add the oil and bacon, then cook the mixture, and then add the remaining ingredients.

Step 9

Cook (boil) the pasta

Step 10

Strain the pasta and stir the sauce through, then and serving.
